Terms for travelling the ice road

1. Who runs the depot

These terms govern your use of winterroadlantern.com ("Winter Road Lantern", "we", "us"), operated by the operator of winterroadlantern.com. Using the site means you accept them.

2. Who may use the road

Winter Road Lantern is meant only for users aged 19 or over, and anyone using the road confirms by doing so that they are 19 or over.

3. Coins on the depot counter

• The games run on virtual coins that Burl hands out free of charge.
• A coin has no monetary value; it is not money, credit or property, just a pencil mark on the depot counter.
• Coins cannot be purchased, sold, withdrawn, transferred, or exchanged for money, goods, services or prizes, at the depot window or anywhere else, and there are no in-app purchases.
• At no lantern and on no stretch is a prize of real-world value offered.
• We, Burl’s depot, may adjust or reset coins, levels and features at any time.

4. No real-money gambling on the ice

Winter Road Lantern neither offers nor promotes real-money gambling, and it does not link to gambling operators from any stretch of the road.

5. Your account and logbook line

• Dogteam Portage and Freeze-Up Express, past the open black ice, need a free account. One account per person, and no lending your logbook line to anyone else.
• Keep your password to yourself, as you would the keys to a rig, and tell us straight away if anyone else has used your account.
• Your account can be deleted from your account page at any moment you choose. Deletion is immediate, and a struck-out line cannot be restored.
• Accounts used to disrupt the site can be suspended, and so can any account we believe belongs to somebody under 19.
• Coins, levels and missions are attached to the account, they are never your property, and the depot may reset them.

6. Conduct on the road

Keep away from anything that would disrupt the site, point no automated tools at it, make no offers to trade coins, and let nobody under 19 use it.

7. When the road is closed, and liability

The road is open “as is”, and any stretch of the site may be changed or withdrawn. A malfunction voids all plays and pays. These terms do not cut back any liability the law says cannot be limited, and your statutory rights stay untouched.

8. Whose laws govern the road

Ontario’s laws, meaning the laws of the Province of Ontario, govern these depot terms, alongside the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
